THE STORY ABOUT US

JAMZIBAR is a family-owned restaurant founded by Jamaican-born and Los Angeles-bred DJ DOCTA. His dream as a teen was to share his native culture and life experiences with Africa. He combines traditional Jamaican recipes with locally sourced ingredients, plus his knowledge of music and indigenous culture to create a unique dining experience. His family's journey to Africa was born out of their passion for travel, food, and music. They desired to create a place to share their heritage, culture, and love for people. When they discovered Zanzibar with its similar tropical magic and rich history, they knew it was the perfect place for their vision to manifest.

What started as a temporary visit turned into creating a beloved restaurant and lounge where guests can immerse themselves in Jamaican and African culture through food, music, and hospitality. Their mission is to share the joy of Jamaican cuisine while creating a space where community thrives and every guest feels like family.
